Note: A stirrup glass is a glass without a foot or handle and must rest inverted on the bowl when not in use.
Strictly speaking, the term refers to the final drink taken by a mounted rider or huntsman when about to depart, but now generally applies to a type of drinking vessel which was used on such occasions. A stirrup glass can often be refered to as a hunting-glass or a coaching glass.
