Antique glass cruciform serving bottle English c1730-50

Cruciform serving bottle with triple annulated string rim. These serving bottles are named because of its cross sectional appearance which when viewed from underneath appears as a cross. English c1730-50.

Base: 9 cm at its widest point.

Condition: Very good.

Note: It is thought by some, that the cruciform cross sectional form evolved in order to provide a larger surface area thus rapidly increasing the cooling effect when placed in wine coolers.
